For electronic products such as mobile phones, laptops, and servers, drop tests and shock tests are among the most important items in design verification.
In this case, HyperMesh is used together with Richin Technology’s customized scripts to quickly complete CAE modeling of the server. This includes automatic geometric feature classification, automatic bolt assembly, automatic thickness assignment, automatic tie generation, automatic weld creation, and automatic high-quality meshing, reducing more than 70% of the modeling time.
Then, the explicit solver RADIOSS is used to perform the server drop test analysis. Based on the analysis results, the stress and strain distribution of each housing structure can be evaluated to determine whether the impact at the moment of ground contact may cause structural failure due to insufficient design strength, and further design optimization is carried out using HyperStudy .
By leveraging the robust solving capability of Radioss (excellent repeatability of results) and advanced mass scaling, the initial design issue of insufficient fastening points can be quickly reinforced. Combined with HyperWorks and its powerful parameter optimization tool HyperStudy, the optimal thickness layout for structural panels is obtained, achieving both weight reduction and cost savings.
