Bus Rollover Impact Analysis(ECE R66)
Apr.10,2024

Software Used : HyperMeshRadioss

【 Background 】

We used CAE analysis to replace physical vehicle testing and obtained certification from both the Vehicle Safety Certification Center (VSCC) and domestic vehicle crash experts.
Richin Technology is one of the few organizations in Taiwan accredited as a “CAE Certified Laboratory” by the Ministry of Transportation. In Taiwan, large buses must comply with the “EU R66 Structural Safety Regulation” to prevent structural collapse during rollover accidents.
We possess the professional capability to perform【EU ECE R66 Bus Rollover Simulation Tests】. Before obtaining formal certification, vehicle manufacturers often face extremely high testing costs. Richin Technology leverages CAE simulation to ensure ‘vehicle body safety,’ achieve ‘lightweight structural design,’ and significantly reduce development costs.

【 Results 】

Since 2009, Richin Technology has helped more than ten domestic bus manufacturers meet ECE R66 structural requirements. Using optimization techniques, we achieved bus body lightweighting of 20–30% on average while maintaining structural strength.

【 Technical Features 】

  • HyperMesh combined with Richin’s customized automation scripts enables rapid full-vehicle FEM modeling.

  • High-accuracy crash simulations performed using Radioss.

  • JointTest correlation ensures simulation accuracy compared with physical tests.

  • Using HyperStudy for parametric optimization helps manufacturers efficiently identify reinforcement strategies while reducing structural weight by 20–30%.
